Story 1

Once upon a time there was a young man named Jose. he lived with his teenage mom who worked two jobs and stayed with neighbors. He did not have a stable schedule, no routines, no previous exposure to school and learning. When he started school he began to receive appropriate nutrition which he was never exposed. He was used to eating on the go and not having all his food groups. His teacher referred his mother to programs to help her get stable school and work. Mom was able to learn how to best care for her child physically, mentally, an d educationally. Mom and son were doing great and able to have a great life together.

Years later Jose is now graduated from high school and in law school Mom is married and helping her son with college expenses. Jose is expected to finish law school within a year. (150)

Story 2

80% of students are eager.

Johnny wants to come to school and meet new friends, but mom is crying. She won’t let go. She followed him to class and sits with him, much to the teacher’s annoyance. The school nurse comes in and invites mom to the young for coffee. Mom declines. The principal comes on the intercom and requires mom to leave the classroom. Johnny’s mom stays/ Security is called and she is removed to the lounge where she meets other crying moms over coffee. They become good friends and help each other with separation from their children. (99)
